Stop Measuring Growth by Numbers. Start Measuring It by Connection.
I’ve sat in rooms where church leaders celebrated growth with glowing metrics:
“Look at the numbers!”
“We’re reaching more people than ever!”
“The platform is expanding!”
And I’ve sat in the same rooms…
Where people quietly whispered their ache:
“I feel invisible.”
“I don’t know who really knows me.”
“I’m not sure I belong here anymore.”
This isn’t about being anti-growth.
It’s about asking the right questions.
Because real revival isn’t just about reach — it’s about relationship.
Personal Insight: What Revival Feels Like
We talk about revival.
We pray for impact.
We plan conferences, perfect programming, and launch initiatives…
But behind all the stage lights — are we connected?
📌 Connected to God — not just His mission, but His heart.
📌 Connected to each other — not just in Sunday foyers, but in real, raw life.
📌 Connected to ourselves — not just our roles, but our actual process.
Real growth is hard to post on Instagram.
It looks like deep conversations in messy living rooms.
It looks like being known outside of your gifting or service.
It looks like awkward vulnerability in someone’s “before” — not needing them to be healed by next week.
It looks like fewer metrics and more meals.
Fewer stages and more porch lights.
Fewer presentations and more sacred spaces where nothing is off-limits.
Kingdom Truth: God Is Building a Family, Not a Franchise
“What if we stopped asking, How’s our church growing?
And started asking, How are we connecting?”
The health of a Kingdom community should never be measured solely by attendance or volunteerism.
Those things can be good — but they’re not the point.
Here’s a better metric:
How many people felt safe enough to tell the truth about their pain this week?
How many tables were pulled out?
How many porch lights were left on for the one still in process?
The truth is — it’s easy to grow a crowd.
It’s much harder to grow connection.
But connection is what transforms.
It’s what changes people.
It’s what reveals Jesus.
Because presence always outweighs polish.
And authenticity always births deeper impact.
Business + Leadership Application: From Platforms to Presence
If you’re a CEO, founder, or Kingdom-minded entrepreneur — this applies to your team, your clients, and your culture just as much as it applies to the church.
Here’s the pivot:
Stop asking: “How’s my business scaling?”
Start asking: “How connected is my team? My family? Myself?”
You can hit KPIs and lose connection.
You can double your reach and miss your people’s hearts.
But when you build with connection — growth follows naturally.
Don’t just build a brand.
Build a culture of belonging.
Build a company where the awkward middle is welcome.
Build something that feels like family.
Because the Father’s not impressed with platforms.
He’s building a house. A table. A family.
And connection is the structure of the Kingdom.
Questions for Jesus:
“Jesus, where have I traded connection for performance?”
“What’s one space You want to make more sacred in my life or business?”
“Who have I overlooked because I’ve been too focused on reach instead of relationship?”
If you’re craving deeper connection — with God, yourself, or your leadership —
